This little wedding planner wouldn't be successful if it wasn't for my ability to set goals and get them accomplished! There's a certain satisfaction that I get when I create a list, and then scratch off my completed goals. I remember my mother telling my husband when we first got married, "You know you married a list & checkbox kinda girl!" He often tells me he didn't really get it then, but fast forward 12 years and he surely does now..lol!
I CAN NOT FUNCTION without setting goals, creating a plan & then writing out an Action Item List to GET IT DONE! The nature of my business (truth be told, my home life too) requires that I be a person of action. However, I had to practice & cultivate those goal setting skills. As my business began to grow , so did my daily interactions with brides and many other vendors. I began to be asked more often than not, HOW do I do WHAT I DO, and how do I get it ALL done? This question led me in a completely different direction, and began to help me cultivate continued relationships with my clients down a different avenue completely separate from the event planning role. The trained counselor in me (yeah I paid for those degrees, I just use them a little differently than I saw myself using them 20 years ago...entirely different blog post) wants to see people grow, prosper and accomplish the things in life that make them happy. However, they must be able to set goals & priorities and then turn them into action items. Not a skill you learn in the average classroom. Do YOU find yourself struggling to set goals and stick to them? Do you know your current goals but need help developing your plan of action? Having trouble staying motivated?
